Gigio
(Giovane Farinazzo Gavio)
Once
Gigio was one of the popular foreign players among Japanese fans after Satomina
got to know Brazil team.
I presume that his play and face matched Japanese fans’ taste.
At the venue, so many fans asked Gigio his autograph and photographs.
It is unquestionable considering to his popularity like an idle in Brazil
and Italy.
Moreover, he was very serious, calm (in Brazil team), and devoted
husband (probably
I can add another description on him these days such as “doting father”).
Since he married at young age, there might be many girls who might have stamped
their feet all over the world.
Gigio
has returned to the national team, but he played beach volleyball after the
Atlanta Olympic Games.
So I haven’t seen him for quite some time.
He used to play the saxophone, enjoy the fishing game at amusement
arcades when he came to Japan.
He showed quite different character from other Brazilian players.
I remember his high concentration during the practice.
Such attitude was convincible as he respected Karch Kiray as a
volleyball player.
Satomina’s
memory with such Gigio is …..
Right
after his first visit in Japan, I sent his photographs to Brazil
then he wrote me back and gave me a piece of amethyst wrapped in tissue paper.
That gift is still my treasure.
I didn’t expect his response (in fact other Brazilian players hardly
write me back)
so that I couldn’t believe what happened.
Thank you so much, Gigio.
His action will be continued. I would like to continue supporting him from now on.
