Mauricio Camargo Lima
He
is known as “magician at the net” or “God hand” in Japan.
He is the most famous Brazilian player in Japan in a different way.
There are other famous setters, but he is the most popular setter
in Japan.
Of course he mesmerizes Japanese fans with his play, but the other factor
is his friendly character.
When
Satomina became a fan of Brazil team, he had already been playing in the court.
Satomina was a junior-high school at that time and Mauricio
was single and enjoying his bachelor-hood.
But now Satomina an office worker and he is a father of a child.
During the World Championship Mauricio & his wilfe’s devotedly attached
scenes could be seen on TV many times.
According
to Mauricio Satomina is the most active fan in the world.
There are many enthusiastic fans in Brazil, but nobody flies over to the other
countries and cheer for the team.
(But I know many fans that fly over to other countries such as
Italy, Spain, and cheer for the team like me.)
After the World Championship Mauricio was going to leave the
national team.
I hugged and greeted with Brazil players when they left Japan after
the tournament.
But Mauricio only said to me “I can see you in Brazil so when you
come to Brazil,
just let me know” and left without giving me sweet greeting or hugging.
Maybe he knew that I was going to Brazil in near future (as he guessed I
am going to Brazil soon…..)
At
last I would like to leave a message to Mauricio:
I
am expecting the time you want to play in Japan.
Please come to Japan and play right before your retirement like once we
discussed
(it might be difficult because now you have your own family).
Even though you won’t come to Japan, I will visit to Brazil so let’s
be friends forever.
